چکیده

Evolutionary game theory has been widely used to simulate tumor processes. Inter-cellular interactions that occur within tumor populations are good examples of biological evolutionary games for space and nutrients. Presented extended model considers four strategies (phenotypes) that can arise by mutations: cells that produce harming substances to gain advantage, cells resistant to these substances, cells that produce growth factor which affects any other cell-kinds and neutral cells. Different equilibrium points, scenarios and spatial versions are also discussed..

CORRELATION BETWEEN EXPRESSION OF CLASS I ANTIGEN AND DEVELOPMENT OF TUMOUR INFILTRATING LYMPHOCYTES (TILS) FROM TUMOUR BIOPSIES OF PATIENTS WITH BLADDER CANCER

This report presents the findings of TIL development from tumour biopsies of patients with bladder cancer. Analysis of tissue sections showed the presence of T cells in intra-epithelial layer in 8 of 12 cases investigated. In a larger group of patients, TILs were established from 7 of 20 cases and expansion of these cells in Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in the presence of conditioned medium (CM) r...

Suppression of the transformed phenotype in somatic cell hybrids.

Somatic cell hybrids between mouse mammary tumour cells (TA3B) and diploid rat embryo fibroblasts (REF) or between TA3B and Syrian hamster sarcoma cells (BI) were examined for the in vitro characteristics of transformed cells as soon as possible after cell fusion. Unlike the parental tumour cells as three of four TA3B X REF and five BI X TA3B independent hybrid lines had low colony-forming effi...

Destructive effects of therapeutic ultrasound and gold nanoparticles on a breast carcinoma tumor model in BALB/c mice

Background: Acoustic cavitation which occurs at high intensities of ultrasound waves can be fatal for tumor cells; however, it can be used to destroy cancer cells as an efficient therapeutic method. On the other hand, it is known that the existence of nanoparticles in a liquid decreases the acoustic cavitation onset threshold. Materials and Methods: In this work, the combined effects of therape...

An evolutionary-game model of tumour-cell interactions: possible relevance to gene therapy.

Evolutionary games have been applied as simple mathematical models of populations where interactions between individuals control the dynamics. Recently, it has been proposed to use this type of model to describe the evolution of tumour cell populations with interactions between cells. We extent the analysis to allow for synergistic effects between cells. A mathematical model of a tumour cell po...

Dynamic interplay between tumour, stroma and immune system can drive or prevent tumour progression

In the tumour microenvironment, cancer cells directly interact with both the immune system and the stroma. It is firmly established that the immune system, historically believed to be a major part of the body’s defence against tumour progression, can be reprogrammed by tumour cells to be ineffective, inactivated, or even acquire tumour promoting phenotypes. Likewise, stromal cells and extracell...
